Thomas E. Daugherty is an associate in the San Diego office of Klinedinst PC. His legal practice includes employment, real estate and commercial litigation.

Prior to joining the firm, Tom practiced law in San Diego at a boutique firm focused on real estate litigation. He started his legal career in Chicago working on long-term care, products liability, medical malpractice, and lawsuits involving general liability.

Mr. Daugherty has successfully defended clients through arbitration, trial and appeal. He has extensive experience in motion practice and has achieved numerous dismissals of matters through motions for summary judgment and other dispositive motions. He has negotiated complex settlements of litigation and has also moved cases to resolution through mediation.

Tom is admitted to the bar in Illinois and California. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law with a certificate in Trial Advocacy. While at Loyola, Tom received the Leadership and Service Award, the Pro Bono Recognition Award, and took First Place in the Regional ABA Client Counseling Competition. Tom also was on the Dean's List, worked on the Children's Legal Rights Journal, and received CALI awards for attaining the highest grade in his Legal Writing and Appellate Advocacy classes.

Prior to law school, Tom worked as an actor, playing roles on national tours and in regional and Chicago area theatres, in productions ranging from Shakespearean tragedies to musical comedies. He performed at the Kennedy Center, the Goodman Theatre, and Chicago Shakespeare, among others, and was an active member of Actors' Equity Association, the stage actors' union. Tom can be heard on the Original Cast Recording of BOUNCE, a Stephen Sondheim musical.
