Mark H. Nys focuses much of his practice on defending businesses against a variety of lawsuits. A shareholder in the firm's San Diego office, Mr. Nys counsels corporations concerning business disputes, contract negotiations, and complex environmental litigation. He also represents credit unions and lending institutions in litigation involving indirect lending, as well as automobile dealerships and lenders. Mr. Nys has significant experience in the construction arena. He represents general contractors, developers and subcontractors in both residential and commercial construction defect litigation and complex transactional matters. He provides guidance on construction financing, construction/mechanics liens, enforcement actions, and stop notices. Mr. Nys' practice includes experience defending large automobile dealerships in a variety of legal issues, including lemon law and auto financing disputes. Mr. Nys also defends mobile home parks and homeowner's associations from liability arising from resident litigation. In addition, he has experience litigating intellectual property disputes, and is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Originally from Santa Maria, California, Mr. Nys graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 1985 with a B.A. in Chemistry. Graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Mark was a 4-time NCAA All-American in both singles and doubles tennis. He then attended the University of California at Irvine, where he received his Graduate Certificate in Hazardous Materials Management before moving on to California Western School of Law and earning his Juris Doctorate in 1997.
