Hartford Brown is the managing shareholder of Klinedinst's Los Angeles office. His law practice focuses on providing legal counsel in business and intellectual property litigation and transactional matters. Mr. Brown acts as outside general counsel to a number of his clients, providing advice in a variety of areas, including intellectual property protection and litigation, corporate issues, employment matters, and negotiating and drafting contracts critical to his clients' business. Mr. Brown represents clients in a number of industries, in both state and federal courts, throughout California. Mr. Brown's primary focus is defending the intellectual property rights of clients. Within the entertainment industry, he represents filmmakers and television producers, as well as musicians and record labels, in litigation and transactional issues. He works with actors and agents on contractual disputes. He also provides legal advice on corporate formation issues, protection of intellectual property, contract negotiation and formation, and dispute resolution. Mr. Brown also has significant experience representing real estate developers, general contractors and subcontractors in construction litigation for alleged defects, delay claims and breach of contract actions. He also counsels clients in the construction industry on acquisition of property, critical contract terms and in litigation and arbitration. His experience is not limited to representing clients in the entertainment and construction industries. Mr. Brown has also represented skilled nursing facilities and residential care providers on a number of issues, including drafting and revising admission agreements, and defending against allegations of elder abuse. He also has significant experience defending product liability claims made against manufacturers of household appliances, as well as manufacturers and distributors of products used in the construction and healthcare industries. Hartford attended the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance
Studies, Keble College, Oxford University. He received his B.A. in European
History in 1994 from the University of San Francisco, before earning his
J.D. at Tulane University School
of Law in 1997. Additionally, he is a member of the Los
Angeles County Bar Association, San
Diego County Bar Association and the American
Bar Association, and has been licensed to practice law in California
