Shareholder
Hartford Brown, is a shareholder in Klinedinst’s Los Angeles office. His law
practice focuses on providing legal counsel in business, real estate, and intellectual
property transactional and litigation matters. Mr. Brown acts as outside
general counsel to a number of his clients, providing advice in a variety of areas,
including real estate corporate transactions, intellectual property protection
and litigation, employment matters, and negotiating and drafting a variety of
contracts critical to his clients’ business. He previously served as Managing
Shareholder of Klinedinst’s Los Angeles office, and also was a member of the firm's Executive Committee.
Specifically, Mr. Brown represents business owners in numerous fields,
including technology and e-commerce, real estate development, hospitality
and hotels, banks and credit unions, film production and post-production
and video game development and sales, as well as in a variety of other business
segments, including venture capital and manufacturers of consumer products.
With respect to transactional matters, Hartford’s areas of representation
include negotiation and drafting of real estate, intellectual property and other
contracts, corporate structuring and governance.
Mr. Brown’s clients also look to him to handle litigation critical to their
overall growth and success. Litigation matters Mr. Brown handles include
real estate disputes, corporate litigation, and intellectual property disputes. He
also has significant experience defending product liability claims made against
manufacturers of consumer products, cosmetics, and household appliances, as
well as manufacturers and distributors of products used in the construction
and healthcare industries.
Hartford attended the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Keble
College, Oxford University. He received his B.A. in European History in 1994
from the University of San Francisco, before earning his J.D. at Tulane University
School of Law in 1997. Additionally, he is a member of the Los Angeles
County Bar Association, San Diego County Bar Association and the American
Bar Association, and has been licensed to practice law in California since 1997.
