As Chair of the Environmental Law Group, Carey L. Cooper works closely with business clients to assist them in complying with local, state and federal environmental laws. As part of her practice, she represents a variety of clients in environmental, business, real estate, and professional liability litigation. Ms. Cooper's practice currently focuses on the defense of environmental professionals and service providers in litigation and at trial. She also has a wealth of litigation experinece involving industrial equipment, public utilities, land use, and toxic torts.

Ms. Cooper has participated in numerous national and local environmental seminars, and has published several articles on environmental topics. She also has successfully handled negotiations with various administrative agencies and prosecutorial bodies.

An accomplished attorney, Ms. Cooper is the recipient of the AV®-Preeminent™ peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell. In 2007, the San Diego Daily Transcript recognized her as a Top Attorney in real estate litigation in San Diego County. She has also been recognized by the San Diego Business Journal as a "Women Who Mean Business" nominee, and has achieved a top "Superb" ranking on Avvo.com.

Ms. Cooper previously served as Managing Shareholder of the San Diego office, as well as Chief Operating Officer of the firm. She graduated cum laude from California State University, Northridge before attending Washington & Lee University School of Law, where she also graduated cum laude.

  • In re: Request for Review of UST Claim No. 081647, 2008 - Served as counsel for a UST applicant in this administrative appeal, whereby the State agreed to reverse its initial deision denying the applicant up to $1.5 million in State funds for a contaminated site
