April 25, 2006 Klinedinst Attorney Helps Bring Minority Law Students and Professionals Together SACRAMENTO - Ian A. Rambarran, a Klinedinst associate in the firm's Sacramento office, and the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law have held another successful event aimed at supporting students traditionally under-represented in the legal profession. The Minority Bar Mixer is an annual event that brings law students and members of the legal community together in an informal setting. Now in its third year of existence, this year's Mixer took place in the downtown offices of Downey Brand LLP. United States District Court Judge Morrison England, Jr. stated, "The annual Minority Bar Mixer is a tremendous opportunity for law students, attorneys and judges to get to interact with one another, as well as learn of employment opportunities in a relaxed yet professional atmosphere." Representatives came from all areas of the legal community, including the US Attorney's Office, the Offices of the District Attorney and Public Defender, Federal and State courts, and plaintiff and defense bar. In total, over 60 participants attended this year. Attendees heard remarks from the public and private sector, as well as from large and small firms. The Minority Bar Mixer, like the Minority Summer Fellowship Program, is one of the events organized by members of the bar in the Sacramento area, designed to provide opportunity to minority students. Mr. Rambarran, whose law practice focuses on intellectual property and business litigation, noted, "Local lawyers and jurists have consistently shown a commitment to the success of traditionally under-represented students about to enter the legal profession, and we are truly grateful for their participation." Ruthe Ashley ('88), Dean of Career and Professional Development for the McGeorge School of Law, said, "This event always receives positive feedback from students and members of our legal community. It is something that all participants look forward to every year, and has proven to be a wonderful opportunity to build professional and personal relationships." Klinedinst is proud of Mr. Rambarran, and his unwavering commitment to diversity in the local legal community.
