Klinedinst congratulates Mark H. Nys on his recent promotion to Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves. Mark joined the Navy in 1985, and during his active and reserve duties, his responsibilities included operating computer simulated air defense software developed by Johns Hopkins University and implemented by General Dynamics Corporation, and participation in exercises aboard the USS Mt. Whitney, and USS Coronado, 2nd and 3rd Fleet flag ships. Additionally, Mark earned two Navy Achievement Medals and one Navy Commendation Medal. Originally from Santa Maria, California, Mark Nys graduated Claremont McKenna College in 1985 and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. After serving in the United States Navy for eight years, Mark then attended the University of California at Irvine, where he received his Graduate Certificate in Hazardous Materials Management before moving on to the California Western School of Law and earning his Juris Doctorate in 1997. Additionally, Mark has been cited in numerous publications, most recently "Designation and Use of Percipient Experts,'" San Diego Defense Lawyers Update, (Spring 1999), and "A Hypothesis to Internat. Verein. Limnol 116-118, (January 1998). Mark Nys practiced civil litigation with the law firm Farmer, Weber & Case prior to joining Klinedinst in 2000. Currently, he handles a variety of corporate matters including construction defect litigation matters, environmental law cases, and intellectual property disputes.
