Summer Law Clerk Program

Our summer law clerk program is our primary tool for recruiting new associates. We start with the premise that all summer law clerks will eventually become shareholders with the firm. Because we make recruiting such a high priority, our program is the most aggressive one in the country, for a firm our size. We only hire summer law clerks who possess the qualities and aptitude necessary to become a successful associate and shareholder.

For the Summer Class of 2008, Klinedinst will be offering summer law clerks $1,700.00 per week. Summer law clerks get a "real world" understanding of what it is like to practice law at Klinedinst. Our policy is that each qualified Klinedinst summer law clerk obtains "3rd Year Law Student" certification, which allows them to actually practice law in certain circumstances, and under close supervision.

Klinedinst summer law clerks observe all aspects of the firm's practice, from depositions, arbitrations and court hearings to client meetings, settlement conferences and trials. Our summer law clerks perform real work on which our attorneys and clients rely; we do not assign "make-work" research projects.

In addition to gaining practical experience, our summer law clerks interact closely with all members of the firm, both in and out of the office. Our summer law clerk program not only gives our summer clerks a clear picture of what our attorneys do at the office, but also gives them the opportunity to experience everything that makes California such a wonderful place to live.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting attorney salary for the Class of 2008 will be $90,000. In addition, all new first-year associates will receive a $5,000 stipend. The benefits package at Klinedinst includes expenses related to bar preparation, medical, dental, vision and life insurance. Long term disability, employee assistance programs, paid parking, 401K plan and recognition programs are also included for all Klinedinst employees.

Equal Opportunity

To provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals, employment decisions will be based on merit, qualifications, and abilities. The firm does not discriminate in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin, age, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, ancestry, marital status, military service status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
